Mission Motorsport Troops Track Day & National Transition Event

On 11th February 2020 at the Mission Motorsport Troops Track Day & National Transition Event, Silverstone Managing Director Stuart Pringle signed the armed forces covenant pledging support for the armed forces community for the future. Colonel Andy Deans MBE also signed on behalf of the Ministry Of Defence.

Amongst the cars providing passenger laps on the full Grand Prix circuit, Silverstone as the latest Armed Forces Covenant signatory were joined by over 70 companies, many of whom are on their own Covenant journey from Bronze to Gold, who had brought veterans to share their experiences with those service leavers who are starting the journey.

The 'Mission Automotive Hall', occupying an entire row of garages, enabled attendees the chance to engage with existing Mission Automotive members such as Alcon, Jaguar Land Rover, West Way Nissan and future members such as Tesla and Prodrive. The event also provided the exhibitors the opportunity to network with other Armed Forces Covenant signatories, advocating best practices from Bronze to Gold.

Upstairs in the Hall 3 & 4 welcomed a whole range of industry from the financial sector such as Barclays, to volunteering in disaster relief with Team Rubicon, to construction with Thakeham, all the way through to agriculture, represented by a very popular Forces Farming exhibit. Even responsible & sustainable experiential travel (founded by ex military, of course) in the form of Pelorus was showcased. The aim was to provide the broadest possible spectrum to provide something for everyone, which was positively commented on throughout the day.

Very special guest and long time supporter Sir Chris Hoy was present to share his personal experiences of transition from elite athlete and Olympic Gold Medalist, to the quest for a new career after retirement. The Q&A session added real value to those in attendance, as similarities in high performance careers in the Armed Forces and the world of the Olympian crossed lines.
